Where To Buy Camera Accessories

As I get more and more involved with photography, Iím finding myself lacking a lot of essential equipment and accessories that I would probably need in the future. Iím talking about full-sized tripods, memory cards, assorted lenses (although my camera doesnít accommodate other lenses ó letís say itís something for the future), even the basic camera bag.

Iím sure weíve all seen how expensive these things can get. My wallet and bank accounts weep looking at the prices for the more expensive items, and in the back of my mind, Iím calculating how long I would need to save to get even just one lens, let alone an entire collection.

What Iím doing now is building up a list of places to get equipment and accessories ó and save money, where I can. Maybe even make my own, where possible. I know photography is an expensive hobby that you must invest in, in order to improve, but Iím always in the mindset to save money wherever I can.

Of course, Iíve barely even started my collection, so my list is rather short. If anyone with more experience shopping around for camera gear has better places to go, please let us know in the comments!

Firstly, I bought my tripods and small camera bag online at Camera House. They have stores across Australia as well, but if youíre like me and lack the free time to go and shop, online is the way to go. They have really fast delivery, depending on the item youíre buying ó both my tripods were listed under Ďships immediatelyí, so I got them within two days. Other items can take up to three weeks, depending on stock availability.

My memory cards and spare batteries I bought from eBay, from trusted Australian sellers, of course. They were super cheap, and took only three days to get to me. I donít know if Iíd risk using eBay for bigger purchases, though ó anyone willing to share their experiences?

Iíve been told that JB Hi-Fi is a good place to go for affordable camera accessories, but I have yet to see anything I like. Granted, I was looking for camera bags, and Iím a little picky about appearance, so that may have been why.

My friend recommends Kogan if Iím not in a rush to get something and can wait for a bargain. They have some seriously good deals here, so you can be sure this is where Iíll be going when I upgrade to a better camera! After copious amounts of research, that is.

Thatís it, so far. Like I said, itís a very short list because Iím still in the early stages of expansion. But if you would like to add to this list with your own recommendations, please leave a comment on this article!

I got my memory cards from MSY.com.au at really good price. I think they have stores across Australia so you should be able to find one near you easily.

I bought a camera bag, a lens pen and camera cleaning kit through crazysales.com.au at 30-40% discount. Good price. Good quality. Speedy delivery.
