The theme for our latest photography competition was Using Leading Lines in Photography
The challenge was to find interesting compositions with your camera that play with leading lines . Using leading lines is a technique that can create some really interesting effects in your photos, and you can use them to pack a punch visually!
Here are our finalists for the Leading Lines Photography competition:
Karen Smith, Adelaide
Chandrama Sarker, Brisbane
David Collins, Melbourne
Nick Callaghan, Perth
Ankit Sinha, Sydney
The winner this fortnight is...David Collins from Melbourne!
Congratulations David! You have won a $100 photography voucher! David has been clever here and used a few subtle leading lines through this dramatic image. As well as the lines of the pier that cut through the composition, you also have the line of the rocks creating a border on the left, plus the repetitive line formation of the lamp posts dotted along the pier.
This all adds up to create a composition that pulls your eyes from right to left through the scene.
As there are some harsh lines on the pier we think it was a wise decision by David to use long exposure on the water, as this creates a peaceful contrast to the rest of the textures going on.
Very, very nice shot!
The theme for next fortnight is Winter Photography
We hope you haven't been in hibernation mode over the winter! We would love to see your best shots from the chilly season.
These could be from any genre of photography, so you may have captured some interesting nature shots that show off the winter plants, or maybe shot some street photography that could sum up the winter mood in Australia.
