The photography challenge this fortnight was all about Architecture Phtotography, and we wanted to see how you could creatively record the buildings and structures in your local area....or further afield!
Let's take a look at the finalists for this fortnight!
Jane Lemon, Adelaide
Lisa Lawrie, Brisbane
Richmond Santos, Canberra
Katarzyna Sokołowska, Melbourne
Bill Griggs, Perth
Denny Christian, Sydney
The winner this fortnight is...Jane Lemon in Adelaide!
Congratulations Jane! You have won a $100 JB Hifi voucher! This is a really striking, graphic image with some great contrasts used with the conflicting patterns. We like how Jane has almost split the composition up in two, with one diagonal line cutting into another: light versus dark. Jane has spotted a photo opportunity here, and has considered the exposure, composition and black&white tones to capture it in an interesting way.
And in second place we have...Katarzyna Sokołowska in Melbourne, who has won a $50 JB Hifi voucher!
We really love how this is a shot of a toilet block, which has been captured in a really poetic and beautiful way! Fantastic use of light with the shards of shadow, and also a simple composition that sure packs a punch.
The theme for next fortnight is Light and Shadow in Photography
Light and shadow: perhaps the two most basic components of photography. Treat them as tools to create something interesting with your camera.
Seek out pockets of light, or areas of darkness that will allow you to play with form, pattern or a story.
That's all we're going to say for this topic! The more you look at how light and shadow are formed and used around you, the more you'll realise they can be a powerful to play with.
