Long Exposure Photography - Kangaroo Point, Brisbane - 5.40pm-8pm
Getting started with long exposure photography can feel like you’ve opened up this whole new world of camera experimentation and opportunities! In this session we’ll be playing around with different long exposures, and how you can achieve some interesting shots! You’ll need a tripod for this session, as well as a camera that has manual mode.

We have a different photo theme each fortnight and the two hour sessions take place in different outdoor locations across Brisbane. Great opportunity to try something new with the guidance of a professional photographer, and come away with some new shots for your portfolio or album.

Complete beginner? We recommend starting with the Photography for Beginners Class, which is a 3 hour structured workshop where you’ll learn the basics of using your camera with more 1-on-1 time with the instructor.

Looking to learn more? Come along to the group sessions, which are more casual and informal than other workshops, and with more time to take photos and put your new skills into practice.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

What’s involved? Each session starts with an introduction to the fortnight’s theme, and the photography instructor will chat about the camera settings and techniques to use. You’ll then have time to take lots of photos, with the instructor present to answer any questions. You’ll receive feedback and have a chance to chat with everyone to share tips and ideas. We’re a social bunch!

Join the Brisbane Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session and to take part in our free, fortnightly competitions!

This workshop on Camera Settings was the fourth workshop I’ve done and they have all been fantastic. I’ve one away with new knowledge and ideas from each one. The relaxed social vibe is really enjoyable and Evelyn and Samantha are a wealth of knowledge. Highly recommended - thanks guys!

What I really liked was the way we had a briefing on the topic before splitting for an hour and then regrouping halfway through to check back in and see how we were going. Even though the signing up instructions specifically mentioned that it was a social meet up rather than a workhop, Evelyn was only too happy to give me a bit of coaching which was very useful indeed - thank you!

I thought this event was great, great location and Catherine is a great help to everyone. She goes around and asks if anyone needs help and gives great advice to what could be the reason why a photo is turning out the way it is :) I honestly feel out of all the instructors for these workshops, she has been the most helpful so far :)

Evelyn was great, she gave me the confidence and knowledge to explore my camera settings and functions. Her assistant, Samantha also helped me understand depth of field and exposure. I look forward to attending more workshops. Thank you.
