This fortnight, the students learned how to combine external flash with ambient light to get better results when shooting at any time of day.
Judging of the competition entries will now be done for first and second place winners only. Any feedback on images can be sought in our Facebook groups during Critique Me Tuesday, both before and after the competitions, just be sure to tag the instructor in each group, who is identified each Tuesday night.
To see all of the photography competition entries, head to the album on the Photoh Facebook page
here.
The finalists this fortnight are:
Alan Branch, Adelaide
No entries from Brisbane this week
Leanne Watts, Melbourne
Melanie Shaw, Perth
Sandra Kennedy, Perth
Margaret McLennan, Sydney
The winner this fortnight is...Sandra Kennedy in Perth. Congratulations, you have won a $100 JB Hifi voucher! Her photograph is perfectly illuminated even though it was taken in an area with low light, but the use of flash isn't so stark that the subject appears too bright compared to the background. Well done!
And in second place we have...Melanie Shaw, also in Perth, who has won a $50 JB Hifi voucher. This portrait makes the most of the soft backlight, while also using flash to enhance the creamy tones of the child's skin, remove facial shadows, and add catch lights in the eyes.
The next challenge is
Spring photography where students will be photographing gardens in bloom in spring using macro techniques. Entries will open on Saturday the 23rd September and close on Thursday the 5th October at midnight AEST.
To enter, simply post your photo on the
Photoh Facebook wall stating your city. First prize is a $100 JB Hifi voucher and second prize is a $50 JB Hifi voucher.
Please read our post on the
