This fortnight the group classes were all held in indoor locations, so students could learn how to overcome the challenges of working in artificial light, rather than only working with natural light.
To see all of the photography competition entries, head to the album on the Photoh Facebook page
here.
The finalists this fortnight are:
Alan Branch, Adelaide

Alan has nailed the balance between light and shadow in this shot, using the lowlights to enhance the shape of the eggs and the highlights to enhance the water drops. It's very eye-catching!
Chelsea Nuemann, Brisbane

Chelsea has overcome the challenge of the overhead lighting in her photo to capture her subject (Kate Cebrano) without shadows or blown out skin tones on her face. The warm skin tones in this image help to override the dark tones of her subject's dress and the dark background.
Lyn Dwyer, Melbourne

Lyn has managed to keep her white balance clean and bright, so that the lights gleam and beautifully bounce off the metal. This photo really shows off this sculpture in all it's glory.
Nigel Holme, Perth

Nigel has been able to work with the limited amount of light in the train station to capture a mood of quiet eeriness, by contrasting the blur of the moving train to the stark and empty platform. Well done!
Alan Coligado Sydney

The unusual pattern of artificial light in the tunnel in this photo, is greatly enhanced by being in black and white. Leading lines, form and shadows become the main features, and all play a role in drawing the eye from the foreground through to the back of the tunnel.
