Aperture is one of the elements of exposure that can take lots of practice to perfect. The classes in each city this week tried their hands at capturing the depth of field between subjects (such as everyday objects, street art and nature) and backdrops, using a range of aperture numbers (f-stops).
The key to spot-on aperture is making sure the background is blurred so it doesn't detract from the focal point, or if it it's kept sharp, that it enhances the overall image. All the photos that were entered in the competition can be viewed in the album on the Photoh Facebook page. The finalists for this fortnight are:
Karen Smith – Adelaide
Julie Brown – Brisbane
Nilusha Wanasinghe – Melbourne
Aaron Gort – Perth
Rob Sheppard – Perth
Ann Hodgson – Sydney
Tracey Good – Sydney
The winner for first prize this fortnight is...Julie Brown from Brisbane! She will receive a $100 JB HiFi voucher.
The winner for second prize is....Karen Smith from Adelaide, who has won a $50 JB HiFi voucher.
For the next photography challenge the theme is Composition: Beyond the rule of thirds. Entries will open on Saturday the 13th February and close on Wednesday the 24th February at midnight.
