Our first revamped photography competition received some amazing entries from the students who attended classes in Sydney and Melbourne on the 31st January, and in Brisbane and Perth on the 7th February.
The
viewpoint theme produced lots of photos from different vantage points, featuring city skylines, the beach and the fish market. We narrowed the entries down to four finalists, one in each state:
Fariba Fereidony - Sydney
Her shot of a hungry pelican just below the surface of the water shows great timing and perspective.
Lyn O'Grady - Melbourne
This abstract image is a great example of finding lines and symmetry in architecture.
Michael House - Brisbane
Taken from below, looking straight up, this is a really unique view of the Kangaroo Point Spire.
Sandra Hall - Perth
This photo is well composed, using the kayaks to frame the couple looking out to an unconventional view of the Perth skyline.
All these photos offered really interesting viewpoints of the subjects. You can see all the photos that were entered in our
album on the Photoh Facebook page.
It was really hard to choose, but the winner of this competition for this theme is...Sandra Hall!
She will receive a a Canon or Nikon 50mm prime lens - a versatile lens that's perfect for many different photography styles, valued at $150.
The next competition theme is the
Rule of Thirds. The winner will receive a Taylor camera bag (from
Camera Chick) valued at $179. The winner can choose their favourite colour from caramel, chocolate, dark moss green, French sky blue, rice brown and terracotta.
Entries will open on Saturday the 14th February and close on Tuesday the 24th February at 5pm. Read our post on the
competition rules and guidelines if you'd like more information before submitting a photo. If you have any other questions you can email brooke@photoh.com.au.
Good luck and happy shooting!
