Let's take a look at the finalists this fortnight!
Thomas Dowling, Adelaide
Bernie Shaw, Brisbane
Jade Crow, Melbourne
Sandra Kennedy, Perth
Emma Neems, Sydney
The winner this fortnight is...Sandra Kennedy from Perth! Congratulations Sandra! You have won a $100 JB Hifi voucher!
The thing that struck us about Sandra's photo is how the super low camera angle transforms an ordinary park bench into a towering structure, looking imposing in the foreground. There are then lots of layers through the composition: the blurred leaves in the immediate foreground, the tree branches framing the sky and then the skyscrapers adding extra height in the background. You really feel as though you are a small creature looking up at the man-made structures dominating the scene. Very clever way of capturing an everyday scene in a worm's eye perspective.
And in second place we have...Emma Neems from Sydney, who has won a $50 JB Hifi voucher!
If you were the worm that had this view, we've got a feeling you wouldn't be around to tell the tale. What a great, creative shot! We loved the concept.
By having a wide aperture, and things such as the grass blades in the composition enhances the feeling of a worm's eye view, and placing your focus on the foot storming towards you.
The theme for next fortnight is Festive Photography
Let's finish 2018 off with a little festive cheer shall we? We're looking for entries that sum up your experience of the festive holidays, whether that's the chaos of Christmas shopping, the lights and decorations in your local area, or festive happenings and events in your own home or city.
Doesn't matter if you're someone who counts down Christmas from the minute Halloween is over, or if you're on the Scrooge end of the scale! Show us what this festive time means for you by getting creative with your camera.
Entries for the this festive theme will close on 3rd January, so the winner will receive a $100 voucher after Christmas - the perfect post Xmas pick-me-up!
