This fortnight's photography theme was Black & White.
This was a great theme for taking things back to basics and really playing with light, exposure and contrast. There was no set subject for this theme, so the entries were open to black&white shots from all genres of photography. The variety of shots we received were stunning! Check them all out on the Photoh Facebook page in the album here.
Judging is now only done for first and second place winners only. Any feedback on images can be sought in our Facebook groups during Critique Me Tuesday, both before and after the competitions. Critique Me Tuesday is now open between 10am-8pm every Tuesday in the city Facebook groups.
The finalists this fortnight are:
Michelle Bain, Adelaide
Kim Williams, Brisbane
Michelle Lea, Canberra
David Tyrrell, Melbourne
Sundeep Atre, Perth
Erika Farkas, Sydney
The winner this fortnight is...Sundeep Atre from Perth! Congratulations Sundeep! You have won a $100 JB Hifi voucher!
Sundeep's photo uses a high key effect, with the bold contrast really making the most of the bright white structure against the dark night sky. Our eyes kept going back to this shot over and over again! Great choice of subject to shoot in black&white, and great choice of exposure.
And in second place we have...Michelle Bain from Adelaide, who has won a $50 JB Hifi voucher!
The texture and exposure of this shot is just stunning. Michelle has captured so much detail on the rocks, which works brilliantly in black&white. The brightness of the water against the darker rocks also adds a punchy bit of contrast in the composition.
The theme for next fortnight is Nature Photography We'll be looking to the natural world for inspiration for this theme. How can you take photos that effectively show the nature around you: plants, wildlife....landscapes.
