We've been looking at using leading lines this fortnight at the Photoh groups. We asked you to find and capture lines in a visually interesting way that encourages the viewer to follow a 'path' through the image.
Leading lines can be found almost anywhere that you look, and it's a challenge to compose a photo that maximises the impact of those lines. It's always great to test yourself and explore different ways of using viewpoints to improve your photography.
Judging is now only done for first and second place winners only. Any feedback on images can be sought in our Facebook groups during Critique Me Tuesday, both before and after the competitions, just be sure to tag the instructor in each group, who is identified each Tuesday night.
To see all of the photography competition entries, head to the album on the Photoh Facebook page here.
The finalists this fortnight are:
Terry O'Hagan, Brisbane
Ashley Callender, Melbourne
Sandra Kennedy, Perth
Alan Coligado, Sydney
Tracye Hughes, Sydney
The winner this fortnight is...Tracye Hughes from Sydney! Congratulations -, you have won a $100 JB Hifi voucher!
Tracye has captured a truly striking image that uses leading lines in a really interesting way. It's clever how the lines take up the full image, and the fact that Tracye has also included the person in the shot adds a little context.
And in second place we have...Terry O'Hagan in Brisbane, who has won a $50 JB Hifi voucher.
Terry's photograph is a perfect example of how leading lines can guide the viewer through the image. Great choice of viewpoint and subject!
The challenge for next fortnight is Framing the Street . Street photography encompasses a wide range of genres, from architectural photography to reportage, and for this challenge we'll be looking at how you can use different crops and compositions to tell a story about your local area through your camera.
Entries opened on Friday the 23rd March and will close on Thursday the 5th April at 23:59 AEST.
To enter, simply post your photo on the Photoh Facebook wall stating your city. First prize is a $100 JB Hifi voucher and second prize is a $50 JB Hifi voucher.
