The theme for the group classes this fortnight was Christmas lights photography. This challenge can test a range of photography techniques; from shooting in low light and managing to focus, to carefully using colour and composition to set a scene. A lot of people got festive and shared their shots with us!
Judging is now only done for first and second place winners only. Any feedback on images can be sought in our Facebook groups during Critique Me Tuesday, both before and after the competitions, just be sure to tag the instructor in each group, who is identified each Tuesday night.
To see all of the photography competition entries, head to the album on the Photoh Facebook page here.
The finalists this fortnight are:
Gary Chrystal, Adelaide
Amanda Vesey, Brisbane
Lyn O'Grady, Melbourne
Melanie Shaw, Perth
Kathy Wallace, Sydney
The winner this fortnight is...Kathy Wallace from Sydney! Congratulations, you have won a $100 JB Hifi voucher!
We were blown away by the clarity and colours of this shot, and it's a great reminder to always take a moment to look up!
And in second place we have...Lyn O'Grady from Melbourne, who has won a $50 JB Hifi voucher.
Sometimes it's good to think outside the box, and we love Lyn's abstract take on this theme. Although the lights are purposely blurred due to the long exposure and movement, you still get a strong sense of the festive scene from this shot.
The challenge for next fortnight is an open theme, so see where your creativity takes you and come up with a challenge of your own.
Entries opened on Friday the 22nd December and will close on Thursday the 11th January at midnight AEST.
To enter, simply post your photo on the Photoh Facebook wall stating your city. First prize is a $100 JB Hifi voucher and second prize is a $50 JB Hifi voucher.
