The competition this fortnight is all about
Shutter Speed!
Shutter speed is one of the elements on the
exposure triangle, and determines how long your camera records the scene in front of your lens. A fast
shutter speed will freeze
action, whilst a slower shutter speed will blur movement.

Fast shutter speeds will freeze the action

A slow shutter speed will produce motion blur
There are lots of ways to get creative with shutter speed, and once you've mastered using your manual settings or
priority mode, you can have fun breaking the rules and getting experimental.
Try freezing something that is whizzing past your camera (birds can be a good challenge!) or having a go at panning shots. With
long exposures you could photograph light trails from passing cars at
night, or sparklers.
Get some ideas from our
shutter speeds and long exposures blog article here.
Competition entries opened on Friday 13th July, and will close on Thursday 26th July at 23.59 AEST.
To enter (it's free!) you can do
one of the following:

Email your entry (stating your full name and your city) to: victoria@photoh.com.au
First prize is a $100 JB Hifi voucher and second prize is a $50 JB Hifi voucher to spend in the store as you wish!
All of the entries each fortnight are compiled into a Facebook photo album, with the finalists and winners appearing on the blog post on the Friday.
Please read
our post on the competition rules and guidelines if you'd like more information before submitting a photo. If you have any other questions you can
