ISO: ISO is an abbreviation for the International Organisation of Standardisation, an international governing body that decides on the standards for certain products.

For cameras and photography, ISO is the universally accepted standard for measuring a digital camera's sensor’s sensitivity to light, which can be increased or decreased to suit the available ambient light.

ISO starts at 100 and doubles in increments - 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, etc. Also see Digital Noise.
