Street Photography Meetup - Fyshwick - 10.00am - 2
Street photography encompasses a wide range of genres but focuses on capturing moments of 'real life'.

At this meetup, we will practice the basics of street photography by capturing candid images in an urban setting.

By the end of this event, you will be more familiar with:
- Thinking about context, cropping and composition.
- The effects of different shooting modes on capturing that 'decisive moment'. (When to use AV, M, or TV mode)
- Guidelines for shooting other people and their property in the real world.

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations across the region.
New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month.
And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next one is!

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Canberra Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session.

We ask that everyone attending a meetup follows social distancing guidelines:

Stay home if you're sick.
Keep 1.5 metres away from others.
Don't make unnecessary physical contact with others. Avoid physical greetings, such as handshakes, hugs and kisses.
Wash your hands regularly with alcohol-based sanitiser.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Use a flexed elbow or a tissue; if you use a tissue, dispose of it immediately and appropriately.

We kick off at sunset and meet at our location, with a clear view to the East or West and away from light pollution. We start with a quick overview of night photography, including equipment, what and when to shoot, and how to plan your night sessions for optimum results with the use of apps.

Relaxed Film Photography Meet-Up - Ainslie - 10.00am - 2 hours
Still beloved by many, film offers a different aesthetic and shooting experience than modern digital cameras.

Whether you are a film regular or have an old camera stuffed in a drawer, come along to this meetup, say hello to some other like-minded photographers, and brush up on your film basics as we take a walk around Ainslie.

This meet-up will cover how to load most film cameras and a pre-exposed film roll will be on-hand for those who want to practice loading their cameras in a low-stakes environment. There will also be a discussion on where to buy film, get film developed, and get film digitised.

Good event. Good ideas about the technical use of Photoshop. The multiple versions of PS and the variety of different skills of the students can make the class challenging for the instructor. However Jackie was great providing individual advice for the circumstances of each student.

Great advice, I was so nervous that I forgot some of my basics but Peter didn't mind at all. He was patient and after 10minutes I had my confidence and got great results. I would happily do another course with Peter.
