Aperture: The aperture is an opening in the lens which widens or contracts to allow light to enter in to reach the camera sensor.
Aperture is measured in f-stops. A small f-stop number such as f/1.2 will keep the aperture very wide enabling lots of light to enter in. A higher f-stop number such as f/8.0 will be narrower, allowing less light to enter in.
